Tess Howard is EG's goal-scoring machine — a player whose flair and show-stopping skills light up league games, and who off the pitch is one of the kindest-hearted people you'll meet.

Born in January 1999, she came through Cambridge City and Durham University and won bronze with England at the 2017 Junior EuroHockey Championships. A serious knee injury cost her a place at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, but she fought back to score in the Commonwealth Games final as England won gold in Birmingham in 2022, and went on to become an Olympian with Great Britain.

She is also a leading voice for inclusive sportswear: her university dissertation on kit led to the Inclusive Sportswear Charter, and she was appointed MBE in the 2025 New Year Honours for services to inclusive sportswear for women and girls.

At East Grinstead: Tess was a key player in the Women's 1st XI that won the 2022/23 Premier League title — the club's first women's outdoor national title.
