Mini Hockey
Every hockey story starts somewhere. At East Grinstead Hockey Club it starts with fun, friendship and one Sunday morning a week — no experience needed, DBS-checked coaches and an England Hockey accredited Talent Centre, at a club that’s been welcoming young players since 1897.

Never picked up a hockey stick? Perfect.
Reception & Year 1 · Boys & girls togetherEGHC's Under 6 section is the easiest, safest, most joyful way to give your child their very first taste of team sport — no experience needed, one Sunday morning a week, at a club that's been getting this right since 1897.
No experience necessary
Every hockey player alive started exactly where your child is today.
Safe hands from day one
DBS-checked coaches and an England Hockey accredited Talent Centre. You’re in safe hands from the very first session.
Fun first, always
Grinners are Winners — we promise the giggles come before anything else.
Low-risk, easy commitment
One Sunday morning. From £15.07 a month. No expensive kit list — just a stick, a smile and trainers you already own.
Belonging from day one
New friends for your child. New friendly faces for you on the sideline, too.
“My child has never played and might not like it.”
That’s exactly how every one of our players started — including those now on England pathways. Under 6 is a no-risk, low-cost way to find out whether your child loves hockey, not a commitment to a sporting future.
“[The coaches] have been absolutely excellent coaches and mentors to all the U6s and clearly took the time to understand and tailor training to all the players’ needs… even at such young ages.”

From playground to pitch.
School Years 2 & 3 · Boys & girls togetherEGHC's Under 8 section takes the fun your child already has on the school playground and turns it into a weekly hockey habit they'll look forward to — building real confidence, real friendships and real skills, one Sunday morning at a time.
Building confidence
Every child develops at their own pace — our coaches meet them exactly there.
A routine you can rely on
One Sunday morning session your whole family can plan around, week after week.
Friendships that last
The friends your child makes at U8 often become friends for years — and so do the parents.
Visible progress
Watch your child’s skills — and confidence — grow, season by season.
Still fun first
Structured enough to develop, relaxed enough to stay fun.
“Will they actually stick with it?”
Novelty fades — belonging doesn’t. Our coaches build confidence and friendships first, because children who feel they belong are the ones who keep coming back, week after week, with continuity of coaching from U6 and more than 20 coaches across the Junior Section.
