EG Men won the national indoor title for the first time in 1986. Led by 1988 Olympic champion Richard Leman, they reached the final of an unofficial European tournament in Amiens in 1987, and the early 1990s brought a great annual rivalry with St Albans at Crystal Palace.
EG are the only team to have stayed in the Premier Division since the National Indoor League began. After a second title in 1993 and a third in 2006, a run from 2009 took the men to 14 English titles, each followed by European club competition — with Germany Olympians Martin Häner and Mats Grambusch among those to wear our colours.
Our U18 girls first won the national title in 2013 and regained it at Nottingham University in January 2024. EG Women reached the Premier Division in 2014, their first national final in 2015, and have since won the title six times — in 2016, 2019, 2022, 2024, 2025 and 2026 — and taken bronze at the EuroHockey Indoor Club Champions Cup.
In 2019 EG Men and Women won their national titles on the same day — a feat not achieved since Slough in the 1980s. Our juniors now train in the same hall, with the same standards.
